Research: Community based participatory research project developing and assessing the effectiveness of the multi-media, peer developed, tailored safe driving campaigns on improving adolescents’ safe driving attitudes and self-reported behaviors. Evaluating how labeling and narratives are associated with mental illness stigma reduction and stereotype endorsement.

Research: Premiered “Connected,” a thirty six minute original narrative film, created through one of my upper level production classes. The film was shot with our Red One Digital Film Camera system.  Working on a feature length screenplay, “Thieves of Innocence,” base on real events.

Research: My recent project explores people’s participatory behaviors on Internet video sites—how people use interactive features on these sites and how to define and evaluate the “interactive audience.” It compares the regular users and non/casual users of interactive functions in terms of demographics, media consumption habits, technology/web experiences, and technology characteristics, and developed new criteria for evaluating online audiences.

Research: I have a strong interest in science and health communication as well as biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical industry rhetoric. My doctoral dissertation, titled “The Rhetorical Helix of the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries,” was a study of how society has come to think and talk about these two industries both separately and in relation to one another.
